Community Meditation Practice

Prerequisites: None. These practices are suitable for all students.

On Sunday afternoons we will meditate together using two types of meditation, Calm Abiding and a guided OM AH HUNG practice.

Calm-Abiding Meditation
Calm Abiding Meditation Practice is a silent meditation that develops awareness. As it is, one’s mind is bewildered on account of the many distractions and as a result one has no control and loses oneself to these distractions. Through the practice of calm abiding meditation the mind will eventually become clear and free of agitation.

Guided OM AH HUNG Meditation – Introduction and Practice
This is an introductory practice in compassion training to gain familiarization and a create a foundation for tantric meditation practices. We will use a teaching from Khenchen Konchok Gyaltsen Rinpoche for this practice.

Medicine Buddha Meditation Practice

Medicine Buddha Meditation Practice
Time: 5:15–6:15pm
Cost: none
Registration: None required.
Prerequisites: Those who wish to participate in these meditation practices should have one of the following: 1) taken refuge or 2) had the empowerment or 3) attended a weekend Introductory Workshop on Tantric meditation.

On Sunday afternoons we will practice Medicine Buddha meditation

Medicine Buddha Practice
This meditation deals with purification and healing, and is taken from the original teaching of the Medicine Buddha. The causes of our physical and mental problems are related to the mind. The root cause is ignorance, and the other afflictive emotions arise from that base… So it is important to work with our mind in order to improve our situation.
